The Story of Liv

Seven years ago, my uncle Sam was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  He stayed with us a lot during his treatment because my aunt Laura was working and had to travel for her job.  I really wanted a puppy more than anything and I finally talked my mother and my aunt into getting a pair of puppies-- sisters!  The deal was that we would keep one forever and the other would be Laura and Sam's once we house trained it.  When the puppies arrived from the breeder, we all sat around and watched them running and playing in the yard and we tried to think of names.  Uncle Sam didn't like any of them.  I decided to name mine Coconut (Coco) after the American Girl doll dog (because I was in third grade) and she was white and fluffy.  We woke up the next morning and still hadn't decided on a name for Laura and Sam's dog.  My sister finally suggested, "Olivia" and Sam said, "Yes! That's it, but we will call her Liv."  We didn't realize until a few years after his death that naming the dog Liv was actually his way of expressing a hope for the future, his prayer.  I don't know how something so obvious escaped us, but we all said, "Liv!  Like Liv Ullman, Liv Tyler-- that's a great name."  Sam was an actor so this didn't seem like such a stretch.  Livy, as we now call the dog, lives with my aunt in Los Angeles.  Coco was killed in a snowstorm a few years ago.  And Sam died in 2008 at home in Los Angeles with Aunt Laura, his two daughters, my mom, and Liv by his side. I decided to create this blog and to sell refurbished vintage clothing to benefit brain cancer research. I hope you like our clothes!    We will start posting pictures and information on how to buy soon.   Thanks, Natalie
